News: Georgetown Hoyas Big East Champs!

With the Villanova win over Syracuse this afternoon, Georgetown locked up the #1 seed in the Big East Tournament, with a quarter-final game at noon on Thursday against the winner of the 8 v. 9 game (complete seeding won't be determined until the end of the regular season tomorrow).

With the Marquette win over Pitt tonight, Georgetown stands alone at 13-3 in the Big East conference, and thereby locks up the outright regular season title.

Georgetown was last the #1 seed or the regular season championship in 1989. Congratulations to the players, coaches and fans.

  1. can you give an update about how today's games (sunday) affect the 8-9 matchup? I heard that if Providence wins they bump Nova down to 10, is that correct?

  2. That is correct.

For the best information, check this link in the BET seeding thread on HoyaTalk for details.

  3. Actually, this post is the most recent update in that thread.
