With the Villanova win over Syracuse this afternoon, Georgetown locked up the #1 seed in the Big East Tournament, with a quarter-final game at noon on Thursday against the winner of the 8 v. 9 game (complete seeding won't be determined until the end of the regular season tomorrow).
With the Marquette win over Pitt tonight, Georgetown stands alone at 13-3 in the Big East conference, and thereby locks up the outright regular season title.
Georgetown was last the #1 seed or the regular season championship in 1989. Congratulations to the players, coaches and fans.
can you give an update about how today's games (sunday) affect the 8-9 matchup? I heard that if Providence wins they bump Nova down to 10, is that correct?
ReplyDeleteThat is correct.
