Analysis: Georgetown 76, DePaul 60

We didn't have the game on TV out here in the Comcast hinterlands; instead it was the ugly SHU-Marquette affair. And since williambraskyiii says, "If you didn't see the game, you shouldn't be able to comment on it. It was a freakin' clinic!" who am I to argue?

Without further ado, let's run the numbers:

  • The game was essentially over at 7:24 left in the 1st half, when Jon Wallace hit a 3 FG to put the Hoyas up 28-11.
  • From the reports I gather on Hoyatalk, those who did see the game thought it was an offensive showcase in the 1st half, but that's not really so, due to 10 turnovers out of 38 total possessions.
  • The 65.7 Def. Eff in the 1st half was the 2nd best defensive first half for Georgetown this year (60.8 vs. Michigan). In that game, the Hoyas forced 9 TOs on 31 possessions; this time, it was the Blue Demons' shooting (eFG = 27.3%) that doomed them.
  • Garbage time (aka the 2nd half) will skew the rebounding stats a bit, but Georgetown did a good job controlling the glass in the 1st half.
