Yeah, not much going on around here

If you're looking for your Georgetown Hoyas fix, as always your best bet is HoyaTalk.

Having said that:

  • Max Wasserman of the Big Lead (and Cornell University) has worked out the odds that UMCP and Georgetown will actually meet up in the last round of the Old Spice Classic: 9%. Feel free to critique his methodology, but at least he's offering Hoya-related analysis in this long summer of our discontent. He also explains the convoluted reasons why the Terrapins and Hoyas don't play every year.
  • I haven't been completely complacent this summer - I took a tempo-free look at a couple of Hoya recruiting targets based on their performance at the 2008 FIBA Americas U-18 Championship (with John Thompson III serving as an assistant coach). Yes, I did already post these tables in that thread, but I'll repost here.

  1. Excellent work CO_Hoya. I monitored the U18 tournament too and posted some team numbers going into the medal round. I was a little surprised to see virtually all of the teams struggle with their 3 point shooting. I wonder if the added distance (I believe the line is somewhere around 20-6...) was the problem as all but the Argentines seemed to have terrible shooting percentages from the 3.

I did not realize Georgetown was looking at Ryan Kelly and Dom Cheek. The Nova Nation has followed Cheek's progress for several years now, but he appears to be in no hurry to make up his mind.

  2. Hey greyCat,

Cheek is not a strong recruiting target for the Hoyas (as far as I know, which is simply from what I read on the interweb), but he and Kelly were the only uncommitted (either LOI or verbal) players, therefore worth considering.

Certainly, having Coach Thompson as an assistant coach for the team serves as a default recruiting tool for those two.

As of now, I believe only Kelly is listing the Hoyas.
