Not much to say here, other than that the 40 possession 2nd half was far and away the fastest-paced half played so far this season; the previous record was 33 possessions, done twice (2nd half Michigan, 1st half Alabama).

If you're a regular reader (are there any regular readers, or just people who wander here by mistake?), you've noticed that I always break out the game into halves. As a result, I can also post cumulative stats for the season by half, as a supplement to the team stats that Pomeroy posts.

I've created a separate page for these split statistics, and I'll keep a link at the upper right of the blog for easy access. I'll try to update the splits at least weekly throughout the season, and add other splits (home/road, wins/losses) as the season progresses. If there's something you'd like to see, just let me know.

As always, keep the small sample size in mind this time of year. I haven't spent too much time looking at the 1st half/2nd half splits yet, but one observation is that while Jessie Sapp uses more possessions in the 2nd half (23.9, 31.7), he is much less efficient in doing do (125, 83).

  3. The Van Buren Boys wander over here occassionally, but it's intentional.
