Not a lot of positives can be taken from tonight's game. In a meeting of two of the conference's better defensive teams, the Pirates - lead by Jordan Theodore - quite simply made a lot of shots and thereby had a spectacular offensive game. The Hoyas came into the game leading the conference in effective field goal defense, having allowed a season-high 55% eFG against Pitt. So what Seton Hall did tonight [71% eFG] should be recognized as extraordinary. Only two other teams have managed to hit the 70% level against JT3's Georgetown Hoyas: the Ohio Bobcats and the Baylor Bears. Don't feel obligated to click through on those links, by the way.
The absurdity of the situation came through in the second half as Theodore and friends took a number of questionable shots that simply went in, so much so that the play-by-play announcer began giggling uncontrollably during one replay. The Pirates made 15/24 [63%] jumpshots tonight, and when that happens the opponent must just tip their cap and head home.
The Hoyas own offense was a bit frustrating to watch, with the turnovers [7] in the first half and poor outside shooting in the second half [1/6 2FG jumpers, 1/6 3FG]. But two mitigating factors should be considered here: the Hoyas were playing a very good defensive team, and by comparison to the offensive circus taking place on the other side of the court, the Hoyas were certain to look bad.

A few bullets on the Hoyas players:
- Player of the game for the Hoyas? Greg Whittington. Frankly, for a good chunk of the season I thought he was at least another season away from being serviceable, but his confidence and shooting touch seem to have arrived much sooner than that. Greg is beginning to understand shot selection, and now needs to starting increasing his usage without losing sight of that. Also a nod to Jabril Trawick, who continues to drive aggressively to the hoop to generate offense, and makes his free throws when he gets to the line. Hollis Thompson also seemed willing to go inside, but settled more for twisting, acrobatic shot attempts rather than contact.
- For whatever reason, Jason Clark just couldn't get involved. He was efficient when he did try to score, but just needed to do a lot more of that.
- After discussing Nate Lubick's recent propensity for picking up fouls in the last recap, I can't say I was shocked to see him draw two in the first two minutes of the game and sit for the rest of the half.
- Henry Sims continues to use a ton of possessions when he's on the court, and not do a lot with them. He accrued four more turnovers tonight to go along with his three jumpshot attempts - Seton Hall virtually begged Henry to shoot the 18-footer from the top of the key. Unless Sims can find his offensive game, the Hoyas have a ceiling on what they can accomplish this season.
- Markel Starks should probably just pull out of the election right now. Nothing good can come from it.
- God bless Otto Porter, but he settles far too often for long 2FG jump shots. I think he (rightly) feels that the 3FG is beyond his range, but those long jumpers are about the worst shots to take, especially in the Princeton offense. Otherwise, just another day at the office [8 pts., 6 reb.] for Bubba.
- It's hard to get too excited about the defensive stats the players accumulated in tonight's game, since the Pirates hot-hand turned many seemingly strong defensive possessions into another score for Seton Hall.
